The Audrain County Shelter Resource Coalition announced it will not apply for a federal housing funding opportunity after determining new requirements would restrict the coalition's ability to serve local residents and weaken its community-driven approach.

The organization operates the Summit Transitional Housing Program, which has served Audrain County residents since January 2023 without government funding.

The Audrain County Shelter Resource Coalition said changes to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's Continuum of Care program would force the coalition to potentially serve people from outside the county, leaving local residents on waiting lists.
