CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) — Charlottesville police say they’ve located and interviewed a long-time person of interest in the 13-year-old disappearance of Dashad “Sage” Smith, marking what investigators are calling a major breakthrough in the case.
Police Chief Michael Kochis announced Thursday that detectives recently tracked down Erik McFadden in Los Angeles. McFadden is believed to be the last person who saw the then-19-year-old Smith, a transgender teen who vanished on Nov. 20, 2012 in downtown Charlottesville.
