NEW ORLEANS — Hundreds of prayer flags will soon hang above Bourbon Street to honor the victims of the Jan. 1 attack that claimed 14 lives and shook the city.
The installation, called “Second Line in the Sky,” will stretch more than 800 flags across 21 buildings in the first three blocks of the street, "forming a glowing canopy that invites visitors to pause, look upward, and reflect."
The project was imagined by Katy Casbarian of Arnaud’s Restaurant and brought to life by husband-and-wife team Jennie West and Jason Richards of Studio West. Artists Babette Beaullieu, Margaret Crosby, and Jan Gilbert—all with local ties—were commissioned to create the flags.
