A pupil who tragically died at a private school earlier this week has been formally named at the opening of an inquest into his death.
Police were called to Kent College Canterbury on Monday night after 18-year-old Songcheng Fang was discovered unresponsive in a boarding-house bathroom.
The hearing at Oakwood House in Maidstone was told Songcheng - known as Franklin to friends - had last been seen at 8.15pm for evening registration. He had only started boarding at the school in September.
He shared a bedroom with another pupil, who told police he heard Franklin enter a communal bathroom used by three dormitories at about 10pm.
When concerns were raised an hour later, with the water still running, staff turned off the supply but received no response.
