COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Officials said a person was hit by a Richland County deputy’s vehicle while they were trying to conduct a traffic stop on Thursday.
The Richland County Sheriff’s Department said the deputy activated their blue lights after seeing another driver run a red light at around 6:20 p.m.
While trying to stop the other driver, RCSD said the deputy hit a pedestrian who was crossing the road at Greenlawn Drive and Leesburg Road in Columbia.
RCSD said the pedestrian was taken to a hospital with injuries not considered to be life-threatening.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
