RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — A Richland County Sheriff's deputy hit a pedestrian crossing the road around 6:20 p.m. Thursday, November 20.
The incident occurred as the deputy was trying to initiate a traffic stop of a vehicle that had run a red light. The deputy activated his blue lights and started through the intersection of Greenlawn Drive and Leesburg Road. That's when the deputy's vehicle struck the pedestrian.
The individual was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
