DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) - The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services is reporting the first influenza-related death this season.
Iowa HHS says the person who died was an older adult in southwest Iowa.
The latest state report from November 14 shows the virus is still showing low activity levels, with hospitals reporting low patient admission rates.
As the holidays quickly approach with families getting together, doctors advise simple precautions to keep everyone healthy.
“Stay home when feeling sick and to talk with your healthcare provider about vaccination,” said State Medical Director Dr. Robert Kruse.
