FERGUS FALLS, Minn. — A federal jury has found a Dilworth man guilty of stealing valor that netted him nearly $150,000 in veteran benefits.
Jurors in Fergus Falls returned the verdict Friday, Nov. 21, against 39-year-old Mikhail “Michael” Robin Wicker, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Minnesota. After a weeklong trial and several hours of deliberation, the jury found him guilty of wire fraud, mail fraud, using a false military discharge certificate and fraudulent use of military medals, the release said.
Wicker will be sentenced at a later date.
Prosecutors claimed Wicker collected $146,287 in veteran benefits after he claimed he served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 2004 to 2006. He submitted fraudulent documents that said he was part of the Lima Company, 3rd
