MASON COUNTY — The Michigan Court of Appeals upheld the conviction of a former Scottville woman found guilty of embezzling more than $20,000 from vulnerable adults she was appointed to protect.

According to a Nov. 21 news release from Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel’s office, Jessica Englebrecht, 38, served as a guardian and conservator for multiple adults from 2017 to 2019.

Prosecutors said she embezzled funds from 10 vulnerable adults and commingled client money during that time.

A Mason County jury convicted her in September 2023 of eight counts of embezzlement from a vulnerable adult of $1,000 or more but less than $20,000.
