EUGENE, Ore. - A University of Oregon professor faces serious charges after his arrest on Friday for allegedly possessing child pornography, according to the Lane County Sheriff's Office.

Andrew Edmund Goble, 72, was taken into custody on Nov. 21 and booked into Lane County Jail on charges of encouraging child sexual abuse in both the first and second degrees. Goble's arraignment is scheduled for Nov. 24. The Lane County Sheriff's Office confirmed there are no known local victims at this time. Detectives executed a search warrant at Goble's residence on Dogwood Drive at 7 a.m. last Thursday. The operation involved the Lane County Sheriff's Office, the District Attorney's Office, Homeland Security, and the FBI. Rumors circulated about an ICE detainment due to Goble's Australian nationality
