ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Georgia’s first public transit autonomous shuttle network is coming to Cumberland.
Friday, the Cumberland Community Improvement District (CID) and Cobb County officials announced receiving a $6.6 million grant to fund the project.
“When you look at autonomous mobility, it really can provide such a great connection for a community such as ours that’s just continuing to grow,” said Kim Menefee, the executive director of the Cumberland CID.
The driverless shuttle network will launch in 2027.
The service will connect major destinations in Cobb County, including Truist Park, the Cobb Convention Center, Cumberland Mall and the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area.
“This project reimagines public transit for the next generation,’ Menefee said.
