LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Former Louisville Cardinals basketball star Russ Smith has had his DUI charge dismissed.
The DUI charge, along with charges of reckless driving and driving with expired plates, stems from a traffic stop in June of 2025 . A Louisville police officer pulled Smith over after the officer said he saw him driving with expired plates and making an illegal U-turn near Baxter and Highland avenues.
The officer said he smelled alcohol on Smith’s breath and gave him a walk and test, which he claimed Smith didn’t complete properly, according to court documents. Tests showed his Blood Alcohol Content was .073. The legal limit is .08.
The charge of DUI was dismissed on Nov. 20 due to the low reading, according to court documents. The charge of expired plates was also dropped
