LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - TARC is one of two Kentucky Transit agencies receiving federal grants.

According to Senator Mitch McConnell, the grants are from the U.S. Department of Transportation to fund improvements to bus maintenance facilities.

More than $2 million will go to TARC for a new dedicated bus brake maintenance shop. The addition will consolidate TARC’s entire brake maintenance operation into one building.

McConnell said in part, “This federal funding will allow TARC to expand its operations, and the new brake-maintenance shop will help keep buses running safely, reliably, and on time.”

Another $6 million will go towards Lextran in Lexington.
