MELROSE, Fla. (WCJB) - A prominent married couple from Alachua County were inseparable in life. They both died of cancer on the same day this week.

Officials with Phillip & Sons in Melrose say Carl and Bettye Baskin died on Tuesday.

They ran the Village Traffic nightclub and both worked with Alachua County Public Schools for years.

The Baskins also were prominent leaders at Springhill Missionary Baptist Church.

Funeral service arrangements are not yet available.
