LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
TARC has been awarded a multi-million-dollar federal grant.
Sen. Mitch McConnell announced Friday, the Louisville Transit Authority of River City (TARC) and the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government (Lextran) will receive a competitive federal grant worth $8,724,000 to update current systems.
TARC will receive $2,624,000 to build a new bus brake maintenance shop.
“This federal funding will allow TARC to expand its operations, and the new brake-maintenance shop will help keep buses running safely, reliably, and on time,” the senator said in a press release, “Reliable public transit connects riders across Louisville and its suburbs to jobs, schools, and local businesses.
