COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - T xDOT, alongside local and state officials, gathered at Stephen C. Beachy Central Park in College Station for the Big 6 groundbreaking ceremony.

“This is earth-shattering, [and] community changing,” Bryan District Engineer for TxDot, Chad Bohne, exclaimed.

Highway 6, as we know it today, was constructed more than 50 years ago. Now, our population has nearly quadrupled, and over 100,000 cars and trucks use the roadway daily. Boosting traffic capacity, connectivity, efficiency, and safety is the name of the game for the Highway 6 revamp.

“This is not just an additional lane. This is not just a small improvement. As I mentioned to the group, this is exciting times because this is a major investment.”
