SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. —

A Spartanburg County deputy has been fired after a racially insensitive post on social media, according to the sheriff.

Sheriff Bill Rhyne said the deputy had been with the agency for about five years and had worked uniform patrol in the Reidville area prior to his termination on Friday.

"That kind of stuff will absolutely not be tolerated under any circumstances at this agency under my leadership," Rhyne said. "What we do in uniform and the things and the choices that we make in uniform not only reflects on themselves, but it reflects on every man and woman that wears this uniform, not only here at the sheriff's office, but across the entire state in the United States."
