PORTLAND, Ore. — After sitting dark for years, Old Town’s historic Paris Theater is once again open. The century-old venue has reopened as the new home of Can Can’s cabaret-style dinner theater, marking a major turnaround for a building that had fallen into disrepair.
Inside, nearly everything is new — and that’s not an exaggeration.
“We basically started from complete and total scratch,” co-owner Chris Pink said. “Everything came out that had been put in over the years. It had been water damaged and such.”
The roof had collapsed. The mezzanine, stage and proscenium all had to be rebuilt. Plumbing, electrical and the platforms for performers were replaced. It was a four-year effort for Chris and his wife, choreographer and co-owner Fae Pink, who first bought the building just before the
