Pune, November 22, 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced plans to conduct a detailed survey of large housing societies and commercial establishments in the city to gather information on wet waste management.
Currently, there are around 2,000 establishments in the city, expected to generate over 20 tons of waste daily. However, reports indicate that proper disposal is not being carried out.
According to PMC’s Additional Commissioner Pavneet Kaur, around 400–500 small projects that process wet waste in these societies may be non-operational. Societies producing more than 100 kilograms of waste daily are required to dispose of it on-site. She instructed officials to inspect these societies and submit detailed reports on the status of these projects.
