Drivers heading north on state Route 8 in Akron soon will encounter a new traffic pattern and closed ramps as part of the ongoing bridge replacement project.
Beginning Dec. 1, all three lanes of Route 8 northbound will be moved onto the new southbound bridge, and three ramps will be closed through late fall 2027, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation.
The ramps that will be closed are:
Route 8 northbound to Glenwood Avenue. The detour will be Tallmadge Avenue to Home Avenue.
Perkins Street to Route 8 north. The detour will be Perkins Street to Goodkirk Street to Buchtel Avenue to Fountain Street to Route 8 north.
Route 8 south to Buchtel Avenue. The detour will be Route 8 south to Perkins Street to Goodkirk Street.
