NEW ORLEANS —
The New Orleans Fire Department is on the scene of a fire at Touro Hospital.
The fire department was called to the scene around 1:56 p.m. When they arrived at the hospital, they saw smoke coming from the rear of the building in a kitchen area. Advertisement
The fire has been contained, but due to the smoke going throughout the hospital, patients and staff were evacuated.
According to NOFD, 27 NICU babies, along with support staff, have been transported to the Manning Family Children's.
Touro Emergency Department is open to walk-ins, but EMS is being rerouted to other hospitals.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
