BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Fathers gathered today to discuss what needs to change as census data shows almost half of children in East Baton Rouge Parish live in single-parent homes.

LeVar Robinson has been a father for over 23 years and started a group called Fathers on a Mission to help other fathers. Robinson said it became his calling after growing up without his own father present.

“I’m born and raised here in north Baton Rouge, and so as a child whose father was absent by his own choosing, I understand the impact that it makes when a father’s not involved,” Robinson said.
