Injuries were reported after an SUV collided with a horse and buggy on the bridge over the Octoraro Lake in Colerain Township on Sunday, Nov. 23, at 2:36 p.m., according to the Quarryville Fire Company.

First responders were initially dispatched to the 1800 block of Kirkwood Pike before the location was updated to the 2500 block on the causeway, the release said.

Crews arrived to find the buggy knocked onto its side with one person suffering minor injuries, fire officials said. The SUV’s driver was not hurt.

Firefighters from Quarryville Fire Company, Union Fire Company No. 1 of Oxford, and Traffic 57 directed traffic around the scene until the roadway reopened about an hour later, the fire company said.

Photos shared by the Quarryville Fire Company, taken by Tom Amico, show the buggy toppled on its side across the bridge.

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating.
