A family have paid an emotional tribute to a student who died following a horror crash. A 'dangerous' driver who ploughed into the young woman walking her dog at 63mph has now been jailed.
Lucy Atkins died after being hit by the speeding car, driven by Danielle Mitten, 34.
The family dog, a Lakeland Terrier called Simba, was also killed in the crash in Quinton, Birmingham, on June 24 last year, BirminghamLive reports .
Prior to the crash, West Midlands Police established Mitten had been driving at up to 82mph, more than double the 40mph speed limit.
Mitten, of Baldwin Road, Birmingham, pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving and was jailed for five years and four months on Friday, November 21. View 2 Images
