The MBTA is suing a Connecticut man for $5,700, saying he caused a crash with a Green Line trolley in 2022.
According to the lawsuit, filed Monday and first reported by Universal Hub , Lary Levitts of Cromwell, Connecticut, was driving west in the left lane on Commonwealth Avenue on Nov. 23, 2022, when “he suddenly and without warning turned left, directly in the path of the MBTA trolley,” which was traveling in the same direction.
The T’s lawyers said the collision, at the intersection of Commonwealth Avenue and Essex Street, caused damage to both the trolley and railroad equipment in the area.
Levitts told WCVB-TV at the time that he and his wife had just picked their son up from Boston University to go to a relative’s house for Thanksgiving.
