A pensioner has died following a hit-and-run in Birmingham.

The woman, said to be in her 70s, was left critically injured after she was struck by a car on Wentworth Road in Harborne , around 10.15pm on Tuesday (Nov 4).

West Midlands Police confirmed she had since died in a statement and said their thoughts were with her family.

Police arrested a 39-year-old man on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, possession of a knife and possession of class A drugs.

The man was bailed pending further enquiries.
