The next mayor of New Orleans has provided new details on next year's budget, which include job cuts and furloughs for city workers.
According to Mayor-elect Helena Moreno, the city's general fund is expected to have roughly $725.6 million in 2026. Advertisement
Moreno said if she made no cuts to the budget and continued the spending from the past administration, the city would have $948 million in expenditures, which would leave the city in a $222.4 million deficit.
According to Moreno, this budget reflect "complete mismanagement" of funds by Mayor LaToya Cantrell's administration.
