The Missouri Department of Transportation is planning safety improvements at the intersection of U.S. 63 and Route CC in Boone County after 11 crashes occurred there over the past five years.
The crashes resulted in one fatality and one serious injury, according to MoDOT. MoDOT plans to remove the crossover between the north and southbound lanes of U.S. 63.
The project will add acceleration and deceleration lanes to both Route CC and Roy Barnes Road, according to a news release from MoDOT.
Construction is expected in 2026. The roadway will remain open during construction, but drivers will encounter lane closures.
MoDOT is hosting a public meeting about the project on Tuesday, Dec. 9, at Sturgeon City Hall, 303 E. Fire Station Drive.
The open-house style meeting will run from 4:30 to 6
