The pre-Thanksgiving travel rush is well underway.
The Wilmington train station along the Northeast Corridor of Amtrak was a busy place Tuesday. According to Amtrak, ridership was going up last year, and the recent government shutdown may have led travelers to alter their plans.
"We were actually already seeing an increase before, prior to the shutdown. Certainly I think as air travel had become somewhat less reliable, a lot of folks were looking to maybe do something different this year and didn't feel like driving or don't want to deal with the hassles of the airport. And, so they are deciding to take the train," Beth Toll of Amtrak said at the Wilmington train station.
