On Dec. 6, the University of South Carolina’s Center for Civil Rights History and Research will kick off its 10th anniversary celebration with the same historic figure who helped launch the center, Congressman James E. Clyburn.
In a special public program at 10:00 a.m. that day, Executive Director Dr. Bobby Donaldson will moderate a discussion with Congressman Clyburn about his new book, “The First Eight: A Personal History of Pioneering Black Congressmen Who Shaped a Nation.” The discussion is co-sponsored by the Joseph F. Rice School of Law, University Library Special Collections and the Center for Civil Rights History and Research. The event will be held in the Karen J. Williams Courtroom in the Joseph F. Rice School of Law, followed by a book signing.
