More police on the streets across Birmingham the Black Country and the wider region has seen a number of knife crime arrests and weapons seized.
West Midlands Police has said it has expanded its Project Guardian Taskforce, the force’s youth violence and knife crime specialist unit.
It now has five teams instead of four, and some 50 dedicated officers, whose job is to prevent violence and take weapons of the region’s streets.
In the past month the team has made more than 70 arrests and seized almost 70 weapons.
The Project Guardian Taskforce has two dedicated teams for the Black Country – one covering Dudley and Sandwell and one for Walsall and Wolverhampton.
Adding to the two existing teams in Birmingham and another for Coventry and Solihull .
