ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Heavy rain on one of the busiest travel days of the holiday season combined to create major delays Tuesday at the World’s Busiest Airport.
Wednesday is just as busy, but without the rain delays, as flights get back on track.
“We’re headed to IAD, Washington Dulles, to see family,” David Martin said.
But that trip to D.C. is taking longer than expected for David and his wife, Erin.
“This is our second time here; we’ve been trying to leave Atlanta for 16 hours,” Erin said.
Tuesday’s storms impacted more than 800 flights coming into and going out of Atlanta, but the couple is keeping a positive attitude
“We got in the shuttle, and the song ‘Take your time, what’s the rush’ was on. So we were like, ‘You know what, we’re gonna bring that energy today,’”
