An expansion at a York County railroad, more than three decades in the making, has reached a milestone.

A train shed and woodshop have been built at Ma & Pa Railroad Heritage Village at Muddy Creek Forks.

The Maryland & Pennsylvania Railroad Preservation Society, operators of the Ma & Pa Railroad, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony earlier this month to celebrate the new train shed and wood shop facility at 453 High Rock Road in Lower Chanceford Township, York County, near Airville.

However, even though the train shed and woodshop were completed last year, the project itself is still ongoing.

The new train shed and woodshop at Ma & Pa Railroad will provide shelter from the elements and an indoor workspace for restoration, maintenance, and storage of the society’s railroad equipment.
