COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - The Thanksgiving holiday season is expected to bring some of the heaviest traffic of the year across South Carolina.
AAA projects that 82 million people will travel over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend nationwide, with 73 million driving to their destinations. On Wednesday, troopers were stationed along major interstates, including I-20, to monitor traffic and assist travelers.
Drivers from across the country were making their way through South Carolina. Joe Ellingsworth, traveling from Maryland, said his family split the trip to make the long drive easier.
“We left yesterday and spent last night in Florence, so we split it up. It’s a long haul, so that’s what we do,” Ellingsworth said.
Others were traveling within the state.
