NEW RIVER, AZ (AZFamily) — The body of a man who was swept away by floodwaters in the Agua Fria River has been found, ending a three-day search.
Christopher Couch, 53, was first reported missing on Sunday morning when someone called 911 to report that a car had been swept away by floodwaters.
Michael Pohlman said he was off-roading with Couch on Sunday, along with a group of off-roaders from a Facebook group called “Jeeps Plus Everyone!” which Couch created. He said it looked like Couch was trying to lead the group safely through a water crossing when conditions became dangerous.
“He was our leader. He was our chief. He was the go-to guy,” Pohlman said.
MCSO was called in to rescue the group. Pohlman said deputies were able to airlift Couch’s wife to safety, but Couch was swept
