EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Thanksgiving means millions of Americans are traveling, and many of them take to the roads.
Officials with Indiana State Police say throughout the holiday season, they will be increasing patrols, along with other local departments, like EPD .
Sgt. Todd Ringle says they will be monitoring higher traffic roads like Interstate 69 and Highway 41, in an effort to keep people safe during the holidays.
“We know once the Thanksgiving holiday period is over, we have that next holiday, Christmas, and again, we know that people will be traveling, will be Christmas shopping, so our highways are going to be very busy for the next 30 days if not more,” Ringle stated.
Officials say the Thanksgiving travel period is one of the busiest 5-day stretches of the year.
