DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - Bentleyville closed on Wednesday due to damage from the Tuesday night’s winter storm.
Organizers arrived at the park on Wednesday morning to find rebar bent, signs and light displays blown down, and a wall of the gift shop collapsed. They first shared the news on social media .
Founder Nathan Bentley says they’ve seen similar storms before, but the damage this time around is extensive.
“It’s just part of being a light show next to Lake Superior with the winds coming off the lake and down the hill in every direction. So it’s not a huge surprise to us, but it’s just disheartening when it does happen.”
Bentley says the day before Thanksgiving is normally a very busy evening at the park, which adds to the disappointment.
