TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - The Gospel Rescue Mission's 37th annual Thanksgiving Blessings event returned to the H.S. Lopez Family Foundation Center of Opportunity, serving thousands of meals to those facing hunger and homelessness.
The Gospel Rescue Mission provided more than 260 turkeys, 120 pies, and hundreds of pounds of sides. The event also featured entertainment, mobile shower units, mobile clothing trailers, and access to long-term recovery programs.
Many guests emphasized the importance of the sense of community the event fosters.
"Some of us don’t have family and friends that we can go to to celebrate and this place right here is like a big community of family and we’re just here to give thanks," Alonzo Ayala said.
