TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - The Healthy Companions program is making healthcare more accessible for unhoused and unstably housed individuals and their pets.

Launched in October 2023, this initiative, in collaboration with the Pima County Health Department, Pima Animal Care Center (PACC), El Rio Health, and the County’s Community & Workforce Development Department, has expanded over the past two years, reaching 671 participants and providing veterinary services to 465 pets through 25 mobile clinic events.

The program operates mobile clinics offering preventive healthcare, wound care, STI screenings, family planning, and veterinary services at no cost. These clinics are set up monthly at the Sullivan Jackson Employment Center, serving as a one-stop site for medical, behavioral health, pet care,
