TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - A 46-year-old mother and her 5-year-old daughter are in the hospital after being hit by a car earlier today, according to the Pima County Sheriff's Department.

The crash occurred near Sandario and Picture Rocks Road. Authorities confirmed that the roadway just south of the intersection was closed for several hours but has since reopened.

Fortunately, both the mother and daughter are expected to survive.

The driver involved in the incident showed no signs of impairment and was cited for causing serious physical injury by moving violation, the Sheriff's Department said.
