KENNEWICK, Wash. – The American Red Cross is preparing for its annual Turkey Trot at Columbia Park Trail. The event invites casual runners, superstar sprinters and avid spectators to participate and support a good cause.
It's become a bona fide Thanksgiving tradition in the Tri-Cities, with thousands of runners and onlookers ready to kick their Thanksgiving into high gear for a good cause.
Last year's contributions exceeded a record-breaking $90,000, and this year's Trot might even exceed that number.
"Most people know the Red Cross for blood or for disasters that they think happen somewhere else. But the fact is: most of the disasters we respond to are home fires," said Michele Roth, Executive Director for the Tri-Cities' chapter of the American Red Cross.
