Two women have died and a nine-year-old boy has been left with life-changing injuries after a collision on the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire border.

An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has also been taken to the hospital after sustaining injuries.

The crash involved two vehicles - a Vauxhall Meriva and a Suzuki Alto - and happened on Common Lane, Pleasley, at around 6.20am on Thursday. Two women in their 20s, who were in the Suzuki, were pronounced dead at the scene. A nine-year-old boy, who was also a passenger in the Suzuki, has been taken to hospital with life-changing injuries.

Three men who were in the Vauxhall were also injured, two of them seriously, Derbyshire Live reports.
