KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI — Taylor Imus has worked as a server and host at 8972 East D Ave. in Richland since 2007.

Now, she co-owns the breakfast and lunch spot.

Parkview Perk, formerly Liz’s Parkview Cafe, got a fresh start this November, as Imus and chef Jacob DeVous bought the restaurant.

They’ve given the interior a fresh coat of paint, added new flooring and decor and expanded the menu.

But the soul of the place has remained the same.

The entire staff stayed on, Imus said, and regulars have returned with positive reviews.

Changing coffee vendors was one particularly big hurdle for regulars, DeVous said.

“We changed it because that’s what we wanted to do,” Imus said. “Now they’re like, ‘We’re so happy you changed that, I’m so proud of you.’”
