California Highway Patrol officials are urging drivers to make seat belt safety a priority as millions of people take to the roads for the Thanksgiving holiday. The agency will launch its annual Thanksgiving Maximum Enforcement Period at 6:01 p.m. Wednesday, November 26, with enhanced patrols continuing through 11:59 p.m. Sunday, November 30.
During the five-day operation, officers will focus on seat belt compliance, impaired driving, and other high-risk violations as traffic volume surges statewide. CHP leaders say the reminder is simple but essential: buckle up every time, regardless of the distance.
