A Smithfield student who was reportedly hazed in a school locker room initially denied that anyone involved made antisemitic comments during the five minutes he was locked in the bathroom, according to an email provided by a lawyer representing the parents of five Smithfield football players.
The email was provided to The Providence Journal by Greg Piccirilli, who is representing the families of the football players punished for the hazing incident and accused of antisemitism by two local Jewish groups. He says it was written by a high school counselor who spoke to the student about the incident, then sent the email to Smithfield High School Principal Kristin Ward on Oct. 1.
