A 28-year-old Providence man was killed early in the morning on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27 when a southbound Audi sedan left Interstate 95 and crashed into a tractor trailer parked in a highway rest area in North Attleborough, according to Massachusetts authorities.

Carlos Chavez Martinez, who was found in the driver's seat of the badly-damaged Audi, was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:40 a.m., a spokesperson for Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III said on Friday Nov. 28.

What happened?

The Audi, which had rolled off the right side of the highway, was found on a guardrail and adjacent to the rear wheels of the tractor trailer, Borges Beleda said, adding that the truck's 40-year-old driver had no apparent injuries.
