NEW ORLEANS — A resident was displaced Friday night after a two-alarm fire damaged a shotgun double in the 1300 block of South Genois Street, according to the New Orleans Fire Department.
NOFD said the fire was reported at 9:36 p.m. Crews arrived five minutes later to find heavy flames at the rear of a single-story double at the 1300 block of S. Genois St.
Firefighters began interior and exterior attacks while conducting a primary search of the home.
A second alarm was requested at 9:48 p.m. as a precaution when fire began spreading to an unoccupied double next door, the department said.
Sixteen units and 45 Fire Operations personnel brought the fire under control at 10:09 p.m. The man who lived on one side of the double shotgun home was not home when the fire started and told firefigh
