NEW ORLEANS —

One resident in the Gert Town area has been displaced after a two-alarm fire that happened Saturday night.

According to the New Orleans Fire Department, they were dispatched to a residential fire in the 1300 block of South Genois Street around 6:30 p.m. Advertisement

When the first NOFD units arrived, they found a single-story, shotgun double, with fire heavily involving the back of the home.

The fire later extended to an unoccupied double to the immediate left of the original home.

While putting the fire out, firefighters quickly conducted a search for residents but he was not home at the time.

No injuries have been reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

The American Red Cross was requested to the scene to assist the resident with immediate needs.
