Emergency services were on the scene of a small fire today which broke out near the Meadows and the University of Edinburgh campus.

Two fire engines were spotted on Buccleuch Place around 1.20pm on Sunday, November 30.

A photo from the scene shows the vehicles parked on the cobbled street. Queues of individuals appear to be waiting outside the building.

A spokesperson Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they received a call at 1.14pm and dispatched two appliances to the street beside the Meadows.

They extinguished a small fire on a hob before departing shortly after. There were no casualties.

A spokesperson from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "We received a call at 1.14pm of an incident on Buccleuch Place.

"Two appliances were dispatched and crews extinguished
