NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Tulane coach Jon Sumrall is leaving the Green Wave to take over the University of Florida’s football program, according to reports.
College football insiders Pete Thamel of ESPN and Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports each reported that Florida officials expect Sumrall to accept their job offer Sunday.
Thamel reported that Sumrall is expected to sign a six-year deal worth an average of $7.5 million per year, with additional “significant” incentives tied to the College Football Playoff. Neither Sumrall nor Tulane has commented on the reports.
It was not immediately clear whether Sumrall will coach Tulane in Friday’s American Athletic Conference championship game against North Texas at Yulman Stadium. If the Green Wave win that game, Tulane would likely earn a berth in the
